Steven Grisé Collateral Damage

TThe video artist I've been working with, Steven Grisé is going to SXSW to do visuals for some great bands like Streight Angular and DOM. He asked me to produce some material for him. I made these cassette cases and think they look pretty sweet. The artist uses a lot of analog technology to mix and master the VHS tapes so I decided to match him and use only spray paint, ink, adhesive, and varnish to finish the cases. To see his work and ask him about how the festival went visit his site

splash!

Here's the splash page I just put up for video artist and filmmaker Steven Grisé. This links to his Vimeo and will later link to his whole website. I made it by chopping up and collaging two of his stills from his live analog video pieces.

My first blog post via my phone! A great day indeed. I spent it with Steve making art and I made this^ This great band will be doing the party circuit at SXSW soon so they asked me to create some promotional material. A few more versions to come while I riff on this theme but this one is the favorite.

Business time

Finished a business card for my good friend Steven Grisé. He's a Boston based video artist and VJ. After a day of brainstorming we desided on something classy and professional. The back of the card scans to reveal a secret message (big view to see all the colors knocked out). The final product features the inclusion of new media and technology without seeming complex or technical.

Finally Gocco

Hello! Good things to share. The goodest of them being that the second Gocco machine I ordered has arrived! The first never made it but it was all for the better since I scored a better deal for the second one off eBay. I immediately made these wolf card prints. I used spray paint and silk screen to make them and I'm selling the signed and numbered edition of 15 for the special introductory rate of $5 each. I also painted the grill of my bass amp. Ten points to the first person to guess what album cover it is. Bargain bin win: a 3' x 4' framed particle board with rounded corners for four dollars and 4 mini DV tapes for TWO DOLLARS!!! Thank you Boomerangs for never letting me down.

To buy your prints use the form below and remember!

These CARDS are printed on 100lb stock with 100% post consumer content
They'll come with an envelope if you care to send one as a gift
The envelope also has
100% post consumer content
If you're buying for re-sale I'll include a clear Eco-sleeve that's biodegradable and compostable
The signed and numbered edition is only 15 large so they'll go quickly

cycle-ops

I've been too busy looking at bicycles online to post anything. i really want a new bike. I may convert my 70's Windsor to a fixed gear. that could be satisfying. I'm working on a poster for a small performance of the Wizard of Oz the company I work for is doing, also the business cards I designed for Jessica Keefe came in and they look super - more on that later. For now here's a photo of one of my shelves.

a friend of mine told me about a pair of "lost" posters she saw. people can be sooooo creative i love it

3.21.2010

maki madness

a sushi place near my place in jp hosts an event called "Maki Madness" every sunday. as long as you pay with cash they offer a long list of maki rolls for 4.50 each. the delivery charge becomes nominal if you're like me and order 389367 rolls at a time. test your skills and try to match the maki names to the crudely drawn morsels.

from the depths

dug up an oooold unfinished project here. i was reading a book on pigeons (yup) and came across the factoid that Iron Mike Tyson raised homers when he was a kid and still holds them dear to his heart. i found this rather ironic along with i'm sure EVERY OTHER PERSON EVER.

also, don't you have days where it seems you drank a whole handle of this stuff?

3.10.2010

i like painting

stayed up late painting in my sketchbook last night. african wild dogs are noted for their instinctual practicing of socialized health care. after a successful hunt, food is brought back to the young, old, and ailing dogs. something to be learned here.

some drawings

some drawings i made today of two of my clients at my day gig.

warming up

after upgrading living situations as well as operating systems i've scoured the internets for all the drivers i need to do the things i like to do on my computer. i've been super busy making over my new apt in jamaica plain so illustrations rarely leave my sketchbooks these days. i think my phone hates me. here is a portrait to be later refined.

9.21.2009

eat me

sort of on hiatus while i get things sorted. currently on the bus to new york from boston - i designed this pattern as a color experiment (i'm color blind so i rarely spend time on color) and i think it would look great on dinner plates. maybe some blue duotone versions later to play on the blues on "fine" china.

TYPETYPETYPETYPE

been working on what would be a complete display typeface if i had the time/knowledge to finish it all. i saw something similar to this on an advertisement a month ago and replicated it to suit my memory at first, then did some fine tuning so the set felt more cohesive.
